Pokemon Unbound Start Screen

Start screen

Pokémon Unbound is a fan-made Rom Hack made by Skeli, Pokémon Unbound is filled with many features like difficulty settings, A new mission system, Max raids, and more. It is a GBA Rom Hack of Fire Red with Pokémon from Generations I to VIII, and Gen VIII game mechanics. It is set in fanfictional region called the Borrius Region and has a complex plot. Hoopa Unbound is important to the plot and the mascot Pokemon (hoopa).

Story[]

Welcome to the Borrius Region, a region rich in history. Many years ago the Borrius region fought a brutal war with the Kalos region. The people of the Borrius region summoned a dark force to help them defeat their enemies; however the war ended in defeat when the king of the Kalos region unleashed the ultimate weapon. With the war over, the dark force was sealed away never to be used again. However, many years later, an organization known simply as “The Shadows” seems bent on releasing the dark force once again. It’s up to you to stop them and save the Borrius region from ultimate destruction

Gameplay[]

The Gameplay is similar to FireRed with a custom made region with several different towns with different types of land such as Tundra and Deserts. The Villainous Team is "The Shadows," a more violent version of Team Rocket.

Features[]

Battle engine and TM system similar to Gen 8 (TM Locations)

Over 75 missions to complete (Missions Masterlist

New Game +: once you complete the game for the first time, you can start a new save with several things carried over from your previous playthrough.

Four difficulty modes (Casual, Difficult, Expert, Insane)

  • Note about trainer levels: Assuming you're ahead of the base level curve, trainers and wild bosses levels will change depending on the levels of your Pokémon. Gym leaders and boss trainers will adjust to your highest level Pokémon. Random trainers will adjust to your lowest leveled Pokémon, but if your highest level Pokémon is too over-leveled, random trainers will also adjust to your highest leveled Pokémon.
    • Minimum level ("min. level") indicates the base level curve, or the lowest level the trainer's Pokémon will go. Regardless of how the levels scale, the opponent's Pokémon will never dip below the minimum.
      • Example (random trainer, Expert Mode): if your lowest level Pokémon is Lv. 20, the opponent's minimum level is Lv. 16, and the level scale is marked "Lv. X-6," that means the opponent's Pokémon is Lv. 16, since the minimum level can't be passed.
    • For regular trainers, 'X' represents the level of your lowest leveled Pokémon. For Gym leaders and boss battles, 'X' represents the level of your highest leveled Pokémon.
      • Example (random trainer): if you have a Zubat (Lv. 20) and a Beldum (Lv. 22), you would take Zubat's level to calculate the trainer's Pokémon level.
      • Example (Gym trainer): if you have a Zubat (Lv. 20) and a Beldum (Lv. 22), you would take Beldum's level to calculate the trainer's Pokémon level.
  • Poké award will also adjust according to the levels of the trainer.
  • A general level scaling key will (eventually) be included in each trainer box, not attached to each specific Pokémon. Here's an example of how to calculate the opposing Pokémon's levels when they have different minimum levels:
    • Let's say you have a Zubat (Lv. 20), and a Beldum (Lv. 22). 'X' would be the lowest level on your team, which is Lv. 20. Defer to your opponent's lowest leveled Pokémon when calculating the levels (both random, and boss trainers). When you calculate how your opponent's levels change, the level differences between your opponent's Pokémon generally will stay the same. In other words...
      • Vanilla: Hiker Wayne's Roggenrola would be Lv. 11, and their Drilbur would be Lv. 12.
      • Difficult: ???
      • Expert: Hiker Wayne's Roggenrola would be Lv. 14, and their Drilbur would be Lv. 15.
      • Insane: Hiker Wayne's Roggenrola would be Lv. 20, and their Drilbur would be Lv. 21.
